    Lizzie, 26

Lizzie (of BBC's So You Think You Can Dance fame) was at MOVE IT to perform in an extract from ZooNation Dance Company's upcoming production of Some Like It Hip Hop - the follow up to West End Hip Hop dance show Into the Hoods. Her relaxed take on Hip Hop style was effortless and we loved the oversized yellow hat, unstructured blazer and her signature sharp red haircut.

    Rebecca, 21

Rebecca, a dancer studying at Bird College, wears a bold print jacket by MOTEL at Topshop. Worn with this nostalgic quiff there is something of the Cindy Crawford circa 1991 about this entire look. We love some of the other MOTEL items Topshop have at the moment - especially this 90's body con dress. Click here to see the whole collection. Time to channel Cindy?

    Matthew, 18

Dancer Matthew plays gentle homage to some classic designers in this outfit. The striped, low cut T-Shirt nods to Jean Paul Gaultier and his Vivienne Westwood earring is further proof that Westwood is the designer of choice for dancers. We also loved his vintage look boots tucked in to relaxed grey jeans. TREND: LOW CUT T-SHIRTS FOR BOYS

    Michelle, 47

More incredible style spotted at MOVE IT 2011. Michelle works her Vivienne Westwood boots and bag with this beautiful soft grey draped top, skinny jeans and a biker jacket with elegance. We loved her hair. We loved her. Elegant and cool is a tricky mixture to achieve - this is how it's done.

    Chris

More snaps from MOVE IT 2011 - there were so many outfits to capture....

Chris (who runs Tiffany Theatre College with her daughter) does layering like a pro. We love the rose print top, and Chris cleverly gives this an edge with leather boots. Also the tassels on the scarf add great texture.

    Jake, 19

Boots were still big at MOVE IT this year, and Jake clearly knows how to update them for 2011. The 80’s pushed up jacket sleeves work well with a pared down palate of monochrome and khaki. Accessorise with a shock of blonde hair = dancerstyle. TREND: LOW CUT T-SHIRTS FOR BOYS

    Harriet, 21

A masterclass is dressing up denim. Dancer Harriet, spotted at MOVE IT 2011, confidently mixes gold jewellery and black mini skirt and wears her shirt buttoned right up. We love the pink lips clashing with the orange-red nails relaxed up-do framed by cute headscarf.  TREND: HEADSCARVES

    Clare

Also spotted at MOVE IT, Clare from Tiffany Theatre College shows us how to do crimped hair for 2011. This All Saints maxi dress is the perfect balance between boho and more minimalist chic – simple draping, leather straps and bold bracelets. We particularly like her sculptural headscarf. Karim, 17

We love Karim’s fresh, preppy take on dancerstyle. Details like the oversized red watch and fluffy tail add some English eccentricity to an otherwise classic American Hip Hop look. Accessories are a great way to personalise your Eastpack. Another unique dancerstyle look at MOVE IT 2011.

    Charlotte, 19

Charlotte's vibrant red details add an edge to an otherwise muted palette. We also like this interpretation of the military theme, pairing this structured green jacket with soft feminine hair. TREND: knee high socks with boots. The in-between season alternative to tights.

Move: Choreographing You - new exhibition at Hayward Gallery

Ever wanted to touch the art in a gallery? At the Hayward's new show you are invited to do that and more...

Dancerstyle got a sneaky peak at the exciting new Hayward Gallery exhibtion this week. Move: Choreographing You brings together the world of dance, visual art and performance and asks you to join in.

With the emphasis on movement (the clue's in the title) this dynamic exhibtion invites you to jump, swing, hit, crawl through and, if you feel like it, dance with the art. Featuring work from the 1960s to the present, including installations and sculptures by internationally renowned visual artists and choreographers such as Trisha Brown and Bruce Nauman, it's the first major UK exhibition to take a close look at how art and dance inform one another.

And move we did. I swung from Willam Forsythe's The Fact of the Matter gymnast rings, described by Forsythe as a 'choreographic obejct', the idea being that it 'tests the visitors physical strength and mental agility' as you cross the room without touching the floor. I must be lacking in strength and/or mental agility as I swung around in circles and got stuck, banging my arm in the process. I have a nice bruise coming up. That said I wouldn't want to put you off, it was a lot of fun and a great way to get into the spirit of the exhibtion. It also sets the tone for the exhibtion; posing the question of what movements actually make a dance. Just make sure you've got some strength and mental agility.

If you get tired or just fancy a breather there are dancers from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Dance and Music alumni (under the direction of choreographer Xavier Le Roy and Marten Spangberg) on hand to 'activate' certain works, including Mike Kelley’ Test Room (1999) and Simone Forti’s Huddle and Hangers (both 1961).

We had great fun hitting Mike Kelley's colourful dummy's with plastic bats as part of Test Room (see video below), at one point a gorilla joined in. It was if a surreal therapy room had been morphed with a nursery playroom; it didn't take long for people to loose their inhibitions and get stuck in.

Being physically involved with the work does alter your experience of it. It's common for artists to say that it's down to the viewer to decide on the meaning of the work, with Kelley's piece and the show on the whole this rings true. Your movement, your experience is the work; you are part of the art.

The exhibition runs from 13 October 2010 – 9 January 2011. More details at www.southbankcentre.co.uk/move

    Jasmine, 21

This is the second time we have photographed Jasmine, but every time we see her she is working another incredible outfit that demands to be on the blog!

Epitomising why dancers are cool, there are few people who could get away with this leotard look, but Jasmine brings such a fierce femininity it just works. Her colour palette is perfect for the moments between summer and autumn, and her heavy gold chain adds edge. Trend Watch: Clashing red and pink nails

Annaliese Dayes at the Graduate Fashion Week

Dancer, presenter and fashionista (as seen on Britain's Next Top Model) Annaliese somehow managed to seamlessly pull off a jumpsuit and wellies. Well they are Vivienne Westwood wellies, but still.....she later did an outfit change for another appearance on the Big Dance Bus, and models yet another winning look with wellies. How is she doing this!
